Standard License
Draft for legal review. These terms are a starting point and have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
Every background on Just put type on it comes with this license. In short: use it in as many projects as you like, change it however you want, just don't resell or redistribute the file itself.
1. Who this license is for
“You” means the person or company that bought the background. “We” means Just put type on it, operated by Caio Oyafuso in Ontario, Canada. “The background” means the image file you bought, in any size or format we deliver.
2. What you can do
When your payment is complete, we grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to use the background to create your own designs (“end products”), including:
- Personal and commercial projects, with no limit on the number of projects, copies, impressions or views.
- Client work. You can use the background in work you make for a client and hand the finished design to them.
- Print, web, social media, video, presentations, advertising, packaging, merchandise and editorial use.
- Cropping, recolouring, retouching, combining with other material and any other edits.
Credit is appreciated but not required.
3. What you can't do
- Sell, share, give away or sublicense the background as a file, on its own or with only minor changes.
- Include the background in templates, mockup packs, design kits, themes or any product where others can extract or reuse it.
- Upload the background to stock, wallpaper, texture or print-on-demand marketplaces as a standalone image.
- Use the background, or any end product containing it, to train, fine-tune or test machine-learning or AI models.
- Use the background as part of a logo, trademark or brand mark, since we can't give you exclusive rights to it.
- Use the background in anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful or pornographic.
4. Ownership
We (or the artists we represent) keep all copyright in the background. This license gives you permission to use it; it doesn't transfer ownership. Your own design work in the end product stays yours.
5. Transfer
This license is for you and can't be transferred, except that a client can keep using an end product you made for them under this license.
6. Ending the license
If you break these terms, the license ends automatically and you must stop using the background and delete your copies. End products already distributed in good faith before that point may stay in use.
7. No warranty and limit of liability
The background is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, our total liability under this license is limited to the amount you paid for the background.
8. Governing law
This license is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
